Gentle Encouragement for Parents: Seeing the Good in Games
Many parents worry that games are a distraction.
And yes. When unmanaged, games can affect focus, routines and sleep.

But games also carry a beautiful, powerful impact side that is often overlooked.

Games can help young learners grow in ways that textbooks sometimes cannot:

  • Consistency — replaying levels teaches young learners how steady effort builds mastery. Each retry strengthens patience and discipline until they eventually overcome the boss and complete the mission.
  • Resilience — losing a round doesn't stop them, every failed attempt become a safe space to learn courage. Trying again builds emotional strength, helping us stay steady and calm even when challenges feel tough.
  • Never-give-up mindset — every boss fight trains grit, courage and the belief that you can overcome anything if you keep pushing, helping you bounce back stronger each time.
  • Vocabulary expansion — by discovery names, places, ancient terms, and beautiful story words helps you learn continuously and gives you more ideas to create meaningful imaginations, interesting conversations and grow endlessly.
  • World knowledge — by travelling through both fictional worlds and real historical settings, games gently expose young learners to geography, history, and human stories, helping them to see the world with broader curiosity and understanding, motivating them to explore real places and experiences as they discover what truly interests them.
  • Cultural learning — because many games are inspired by ancient civilizations, myths, and human history, learners naturally absorb cultural wisdom, traditions, and timeless stories that deepen their appreciation of the world.

But remember, not all games are created equal. Only those with thoughtful design, meaningful challenges, opportunities for creativity, exploration or problem-solving designed games will truly help us grow. So, it is important to choose games intentionally, ones that enrich, rather than just entertain.

Here are a few games that align well with the values we talked about (consistency, learning, curiosity, resilience, world-knowledge, culture, creativity):
